Stayin' Alive - CPR & AED Training
Monday, Jun 27, 2016
“You should do 100 CPR compressions per minute. The best way to do that is to pump to the beat of Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees or Another One Bites the Dust by Queen.”
“Sorry, but one of those songs seems much more appropriate in this situation than the other.”
- Conversation from CPR training
Did you know that administering CPR can break ribs? Or that it is estimated 100,000 to 200,000 lives could be saved each year by performing CPR early enough? These interesting facts recently came to the attention of Bank-A-Count Corporation’s staff, all thanks to the Wellness Committee and the Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department.
Bank-A-Count Corporation’s Wellness Committee recently encouraged employees to complete follow up training to stay current on the latest CPR techniques and the use of the company’s AED devices.
Approximately 60% of Bank-A-Count’s staff attended this event and learned proper CPR procedures, as well as the correct usage of an AED, or an automated external defibrillator. Employees learned how to correctly administer the new “hands-only” chest compression CPR method and practiced the techniques on manikins. Additionally, they learned about the importance of AEDs in emergency situations and were encouraged to become familiar with the AEDs located in each of Bank-A-Count’s three buildings.
Employees receiving the training are now aware of the proper actions to take should an AED be needed. The knowledge acquired at this Bank-A-Count sponsored event is an important step to successfully handle an emergency situation, whether employees are at work, at home, or elsewhere.
This initiative is part of the Wellness Committee’s plan to promote healthier, well-rounded lifestyles within the Bank-A-Count family. The Committee would like to extend a huge ‘thank-you’ to the Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department for conducting the training.
